CAPITALISM
In order to understand the contents of Geography it is important to read, because reading stimulates understanding, broadens the vocabulary, activates the formation of mental images and the connection with reality. Another important point is to resolve exercises, which assess whether the contents were fully understood.
In the eighteenth century (from 1750) the so-called Industrial Revolution began in England, characterized by the intense use of steam-powered machines, the division of labor as a result of the specialization of labor and the use of salaried labor.
As a consequence, a great increase of the production of commodities occurred, which multiplied the profits and raised the concentration of the capital. Industry has become the main economic activity of the capitalist system. The development of industrial capitalism has further increased international trade, since the increase in production has made it necessary to search for new consumer markets for raw materials. This period marked the phase called INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM.
